Texas Tech coach resigns

Bob Knight, the head coach for Texas Tech’s basketball team has resigned. He was unhappy with the way the referees were officiating the games. This year was full of bad referee calls he said. This is only the middle of the season so he will hand the reins over to his son, Pat Knight, to finish the season out. He is a Hall of Famer that has three national championships and plenty of outbursts in the history books.

He was on a Minnesota radio show complaining about the low level of refereeing going on and that he was quite unhappy. He made it a point to tell his sons and the team of his resignation. After that, he was nowhere to be found. He had been coaching for almost forty two years previously. He had signed a three year contract running him through the 2011-2012 season.

Most of the people who worked with him said they thought he left because it just wasn’t any fun anymore. He didn’t get the enjoyment out of it that he once did. He talked to his son and his wife and then he made up his mind. Being only sixty seven, he has plenty of time to get on with life and doing something that will bring him joy.
