The University of  Memphis point guard Derrick Rose is the first pick by the Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA draft. The Chicago Bulls are very happy to have signed him as the first pick and have appreciated this rookie for all his showings in the NCAA basketball championships this season. The Bulls head of basketball operations John Paxson said that Rose will bring in more agility and strength to the team and he hopes that Rose’s inclusion will bring in the much needed boost to his side. The Bulls fans are also raring to see how Derrick Rose will perform with the Bull team and will be booking tickets well in advance for the 2008 NBA season.

Carmelo Anthony, a two time All-Star forward of the Denver Nuggets NBA team, will be playing for the Nuggets in the next season as well according to Carmelo’s Agent Calvin Andrews. But all this will only be finalized when the agent, Anthony and the Nuggets think tank meet on Monday. If the outcome of the meeting is not fruitful to the Anthony camp, then he might consider a possible trade. The 24 year old Carmelo Anthony struggled with his form this season and the Nuggets management will consider all these aspects before taking a final call on the situation. The Boston Celtics scored a massive victory over the Los Angeles Lakers last Tuesday night to win the fourth game of the seven game final NBA series and thereby lift the NBA championship title after a gap of 22 years. The landslide victory margin of 131-92 of the Celtics was achieved by excellent basketball skills showcased by Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. The in form player for the Celtics in the NBA finals so far, Paul Pierce, could not perform to his full potential in this game. This win by Lakers has prompted more fans to purchase tickets for the remaining four games of this final series. 

The Boston Celtics got the better off their arch rivals Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA finals Game 1 last Thursday night at Boston by virtue of a tremendous comeback by Paul Pierce after treating an injured knee that he sustained during the game. The final result showed 98-88 in favor of Celtics and LA Lakers will have to buck up their game in a bid to take home the second game. Kevin Garnett top scored with 24 points, but it was Pierce’s determination in spite of suffering the pains of a damaged knee that stole the limelight on Thursday. The Orlando Magic management has struck a golden deal by extending the contract of their general manager Otis Smith and this glad news was announced by the President of the Magic Bob Vander Weide. He said that the Magic team was looking better and focused under the guidance and leadership of Otis and hopes that he leads the team to lift the NBA Championships. The Magics had won the South Eastern Division championships last season under Otis Smith and also gave the team its fourth 50-win plateau. Manu Ginobili, the star of the Spurs, is expecting that he will recover from the ankle injury before the Beijing Olympics which starts on August 8. He will play for Argentina, the defending champion. Ginobili is looking forward to participate in the practice sessions which will start from July. He is the leading scorer for the Spurs and their coach Gregg Popovich is happy that Manu will get ample time to recover from his injury. Ginobili was hurt during the basketball match against the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference finals. He was given an injection to reduce the swelling in the left ankle on Friday and the doctor confirmed that he will be fine within 10 days.
