NCAA Women

The NCAA Women’s teams are also playing a tournament currently. Let’s not forget that. It’s going to be an exciting tournament, and they are already in the regional finals. #1 Connecticut will be taking on #6 Arizona State. # 4 Iowa State will play against #2 Stanford. #6 Purdue vs #1 Oklahoma and #3 Louisville vs #1 Maryland will also be great games. This particular bracket has a little bit more in the way of underdogs and non-#1 teams compared to the Men’s Tournament currently. It’s a very good year for the women too though, and they are pushing forward towards their own national championship on April 7th. Are you ready to watch some other good games?

What can’t he do?

Dewayne Wade and the Miami Heat have been burning up teams throughout the league the last couple of weeks. It doesn’t matter if you have a team that is undefeated at home or anything like that. Wade seems to find a way to win the game each time. Getting off a great shot or playing defense as though he doesn’t do anything else in life. It’s absolutely an amazing time watching him. Unless your team is playing against him, in which case it’s absolutely annoying. Last night, he scored more than 35 points in the first 47 minutes of the game and then was a master defensive player during the final minute. Can he lead the team all the way to the finals? That remains to be seen.

Celts

Now that the season is slowly drawing to a close, the Boston Celtics are clearly ahead for the season. They are, in fact, aiming at staying at the top of the Conference. It looks like Cleveland is the top in the Eastern Conference, but Boston is a close second! It’s a big deal for them to be at that level. 2009 Celtics playoff tickets are available for you to buy right now! Go get your tickets, because this is a team that has been at or near the top of their division since the beginning of the year. It’s been one of the best years for them and they are hoping to repeat their championship once again. We don’t know if the team is going to be moving forward that far this year, but all factors point to it right now! Don’t miss these playoffs.

Shooting?

Carl Landry of the Houston Rockets has been shot in the leg during a short incident in downtown Houston last night. Landry was driving along and got rear-ended by another vehicle. When he got out of the car to look at the damage and get the insurance info of the others, the two occupants of the other car shot at him twice, hitting him once in the leg. He was taken to hospital, treated quickly, and released. It was just a flesh wound, but his condition is decent. But he wont be playing basketball for several weeks, while his muscles mend up. The good news is that things didn’t turn out much worse.

Jazz Totally in Tune

The Utah Jazz are having a phenominal run here down the stretch. It’s going to be a great spring for them if it keeps up like this. The team has perhaps the winningest record in the NBA right now, over the course of the last few weeks. They just keep blowing their opponents away and they want to see the team get up there. Jerry Sloan is excited about it. If they make it, it will be one of the first times since the Karl Malone-John Stockton days. Can they actually beat out the Spurs, Lakers and other amazing teams that are in the Western Conference? The competition will clearly be very stiff, as it normally is in the western conference playoffs, but I think we’ll be ready to see it happen, and the Jazz are certainly going to be excited to burst onto the scene again for the first time in awhile.

Celts

The Celtics are still many people’s pick to win the NBA championship this year and the team is still playing quite well. But the other day, the team dropped a rather big game to the Orlando Magic. It’s not that they were bad as such, but their first half was pretty awful. They didn’t really show up to the game until the second half, after they’d already dug themselves into a hole that they simply couldn’t escape from. They are having big trouble with injuries, but the coaches are talking about the problems with the team keeping the right amount of focus. They’re just not beating up on the teams that they usually do, it seems to us. We’ll be watching this team, because they’re probably still going deep into the playoffs.

Jazzing up the Playoffs

When you think of the Utah Jazz, you don’t necessarily think of a team that is particularly resilient. Then again, how many teams are “resilient” especially in basketball where a lot is determined by long-chugging pushes during the year. But Jerry Sloan, coach of the Jazz, has had a rough year so far. In 09, he has lost one of his bosses, the owner of the Jazz, and two of his former teammates, one of whom was also a coach. Somehow, however, he has been able to hold up under all that difficulty. And the team is doing better than ever, even without Carlos Boozer in the lineup. They have beat both the Celtics and the Lakers. That’s where the team is at the moment and it will be interesting to see where they’re headed, if they can make the playoffs and how far in they can make it.

A record! Kind of

The Dallas Mavericks’ Jason Kidd has reached 10,000 assists last night against the Raptors. Kidd has been one of the most consistently good players in the NBA over the last 10 years or so, and it’s always great to watch him play. It will be awhile before we know whether he’ll make the real record, but it’s going to give us an interesting thing to watch, besides the Kobe show everytime.
