Cavs Stave Off Defeat

The Cleveland Cavaliers were completely untested throughout the playoffs until this series against the Orlando Magic. It’s going to be a fun series going forward, although the Cavs dropped to 3-1. Last night, in game 5, the two teams went at it and the game was fairly close until late in the 4th quarter. LeBron James showed his full capacity, shooting great and figuring out to whom he should pass. He has a big triple double and had a hand in virtually all of the points that the team scored in the 4th. They ended up winning by 10. But James will have to keep up that high level of energy for two more full games in a row, otherwise they might end up going home right away.

Lakers Struggle

Now that the Western Conference Finals have gone 4 games so far, we can certainly see that there are some kinds of interesting patterns coming up. Each time the Lakers win a game, they seem to fall asleep. It is only 2-2 now. The Lakers were considered one of the best teams on the basketball floor in the NBA, and now they have to win a best of 3 series in the conference finals. It’s not because they are bad, but for some reason they have been unable to take charge. They win a game and lose a game. They have days that they shine brighter than any other team. They have days where they could lose to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Now it’s time to get back into the game, if they want to win, otherwise the Nuggets might end up in the Finals.

Nuggets Win

The Denver Nuggets won against the Los Angeles Lakers last night 106-103 and it was a close game. The Nuggets had a lead at the beginning of the game and then regained the lead partway through the 4th Quarter. The Lakers didn’t let them relax or anything and it became very difficult for them to hold out. Carmelo Anthony of Denver had 34 points and Chauncey Billups led the team emotionally, with lots of experience in the playoffs. A few bad calls went against the Lakers and the crowd was very displeased for much of the last 2-3 minutes of the game. This series may be going deep, to 6 or 7 games, so stay tuned. It’s going to be exciting because the Lakers may finally have a real match!

Cavs vs Magic

The Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t been doing anything for as much as a week. They’re in the Eastern Conference Finals, but that’s it so far. They’ve had it easy for a few days now. Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic just finished a 7 game series and are at one of their best points all season so far. In fact, they’re in a better position than they have been for quite awhile. Moving forward, they will be playing a great game and the Cavs will have to match it. At the same time, the Cavs have a top-level team and LeBron is always getting better. He knows when to pass, even if he’s double teamed. It will be interesting to see what happens and if the Cavs will be able to hold it out as many people expect or not.

Lakers and Rockets

The Lakers and Rockets are still playing. After practically half of the Houston Rockets got injured in the last two weeks, who would’ve thought that they would be going toe-to-toe with Bryant and the Lakers. Los Angeles was supposed to take them down, and since the Rockets lost so many, LA was really supposed to win already. This whole series is going to 7 games and it will be quite impressive to see what’s about to happen. If the Rockets, half injured, can take out LA, the Houston-Denver series would be quite unexpected. If LA wins, it will certainly be a well-earned victory. This series isn’t nearly as good as the Boston Chicago series, but it’s exciting anyway.

Hoping against Hope

Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks are really wishing to get themselves back into contention for this year. This has clearly become difficult, after they fell to 3-0 against the Denver Nuggets. They were able to pull out a respectable win last night and might make this a real series. At the very least, it will give the series an interesting extra jump. It’s going to be a series with a lot of fun turns, perhaps. The next game will pit the Mavs against the Nuggets again, with the Mavs right against the wall for all of the next games. It’s going to be exciting, and the Nuggets are having a fantastic season. At the same time, quite a few people think that neither of these teams has a chance against the Lakers or Rockets in the Conference Finals.

Magic

It’s a real battle of the parquet floor teams this second round. The Celtics are battling the Magic, and it’s currently tied 1-1. It’s going to remain a really exciting series now, because the Magic took one in the Garden in Boston and they’re heading back to Orlando now. If you’re ready to see this amazing team taking on Boston and perhaps some more teams in the next round, get Magic playoff tickets now before they all sell out. Everyone wants to see these games, because it’s the best chance Orlando has had to win it all in several years! Get ready! The Celtics are indeed a formidable foe, but they are not perfect any longer and several teams have found their achilles heels. The Magic want to win and they have the talent to do it!

Predictions Anyone?

The NBA playoffs are really in full swing right now! Let’s go through a few of the matchups. In the east, Atlanta against Cleveland will not be much of a battle, say most commentators, who can see that LeBron and Co. are just too dominant. Orlando and Boston will be a good series, with Boston all banged up by Chicago and Orlando dealing with some injuries and a lot of inexperience. It’s going to be a tough series, but BleacherReport says that Orlando will take it in 7. In the West, they believe that LA will take out the Rockets, because the Rockets just don’t have quite enough power in the right places. And they say that Denver will beat Dallas, because Denver is just a bit more talented this year and they are on a roll.

Battle Ahead

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the best teams in the NBA Western Conference. They have been near the top of it for several years now. This year, they are considered the favorite team to win the conference because the San Antonio Spurs were bumped from the playoffs early. But their next challenge is a big one, to be played against the Houston Rockets. The Rockets have their own problems, but they also have a bunch of very talented players. They are also extra confident, because they just made it out of the first round for the first time in a dozen years. This is going to be a fantastic series with two impressive teams! Get ready for a real Houston-LA rumble!
