The Suns and Lakers Clash in LA Tied 2-2

Although Phoenix were written off by many pundits after going 2-0 to the defending NBA champion Lakers, the Suns willed two victories at home to tie the series up with the Los Angeles. Amare Stoudemire and Robin Lopez gave the Suns a much needed intensity down low in Game 3, but it was Phoenix’s bench that was the star of the show in game 4. Channing Frye and Leandro Barbosa both poured in 14, while Steve Nash-protegee Goran Dragic ran the offense to perfection for a huge chunk of the fourth quarter. Suns head coach stayed with his bench until the final few minutes of the game, before putting in his well-rested starters to pull out the game. When the Suns and Lakers tip off at Staples Center tonight we shall see if Phoenix can play like they did at the US Airways Center. Kobe Bryant has played well in all four games of the series, but the superstar cannot do it all on his own. The Lakers will need Lamar Odom, Ron Artest, and Pau Gasol to play better than they did in Phoenix if they want to take the series lead.

Stoudemire injured in Suns win

The Phoenix Suns improved to 5-3 in exhibition play after a 102-93 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are 1-5.  Both teams will finish up their preseason games in the next couple of days.  The Thunder were seriously shorthanded in this game, with four of their main players on the injured list.  The Suns, however, will miss Amare Stoudemire, who dislocated his finger after scoring 17 points during last night’s game.  Stoudemire missed the first 5 games of the preseason with an eye problem and will miss several games.  Steve Nash returned during this game to score 15 points after a sprained left ankle kept him out of the last three games.  Shaq O’Neal, who has joined the Suns this year, may not play much on back-to-back nights this season, in order to keep him healthy.  For the Suns, the season begins on Wednesday in a great southwestern showdown against the San Antonio Spurs.

Suns beat the Nuggets in a thrilling game

The Phoenix Suns top players, Amare Stoudermire and Stewe Nash, were in the top of their game as they beat Denver nuggets 132-117 to register the Suns 50th win in four consecutive seasons. This win also takes the Phoenix Suns to a tied lead position with the Los Angeles Lakers in the Pacific Division and also puts them in a gripping position on the ever so close Western Conference. An interesting thing about this Suns win is that they rallied from a 22 – point deficit at the end of the second quarter to win the basketball game and credit must be given to Nash for the way in which he fought through to score 36 points.

Phoenix Suns coach Mike D’Antoni was very happy to see his boys fight hard from behind and appreciated both the offensive as well as the defensive efforts showcased by the Phoenix players. Amare made the bulk of the scoring for the Suns with 41 points and 14 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns continues their winning streak

The Phoenix Suns are glad to have brought in Shaquille O’Neal into the team as he has shown tremendous signs of improvement in every game that he has played for the Suns and is now looking very healthy and has attained back his dominant nature. The Phoenix Suns have registered five straight wins for the first time in the 2008 season. Phoenix Suns are currently one win short of attaining the lead in the Western Conference.

Shaquille O’Neal made 15 rebounds, 5 assists and scored 16 points in the Suns win of 111-98 over Portland. The Suns coach D’ Antoni said that all his players played good basketball and when it mattered the most, his big man, O’Neal did the tidying job. Amare Stoudermire is the top scorer for the Suns this season as he made 25 points in the game and was closely followed by Nash with 22 points.

Phoenix Suns gets the better of Spurs

Shaquille O’Neal lived up to his expectations as he played some tremendous basketball in the final six minutes of the game to seal a victory for the Suns by 94-87 against their arch rivals Texas Spurs. This probably explains why the Suns were determined to have O’Neal in their side. Shaquille O’Neal finished the game with 14 points and had 16 rebounds and he along with Stoudemire helped in sealing the victory for the Phoenix Suns, who now are the only team in the NBA to have not lost a game in their last three appearances this season.

The Spurs who have always had the better hand against the Suns in the past, were not able to penetrate the defensive set up of the Phoenix Suns this time and it shows in the result as they had just 30 field goals and 44 boards to the 52 the Suns had. Phoenix coach Mike D’Antoni said that this was like a playoff game and his team had jelled well in bringing home a win. Steve Nash was the leading scorer of the game for the Suns with 19 points and he said that the team is slowly getting a grip of things and was excited to see the Suns beat the Spurs.
